People talk crap about these being fwd based, but having driven the current Mini Clubman S that shares its platform with the X1, I bet the X1 is pretty decent.

My dad rented a diesel X1 with a 6MT in France and loved it. Says if they sold it here he’d buy one, I believe him.

It’s a lot of fun. It has a lot of that good Mini “go-kart” DNA. And if you get the M-Sport you get great seats, the awesome M-Sport steering wheel, and a sport-tuned suspension.

The last gen was a lifted E90 wagon, which is not a bad thing. The new one is really awesome in that it has a lot of Mini DNA and dynamics.

I thought it was a lifted 1 series; which would make sense why my dad likes it since he loves his 135is.

3,700 lb go cart DNA. That’s a big ass go cart. We’ve got over 50k miles on my wife’s last gen X1 and it’s been the most reliable bimmer I’ve owned. It’s definitely watered down compared to my old E30 and E90 335d, but it’s still fun for a soccer mom mobile. I need to swap new shocks in this weekend. Have fun with her!

Speaking of which, the Article about the 2017 Countryman on the FP said an S ALL4 weighs 3,600 pounds. That’s 300 more than my Forester with only 15 more hp. Holy shit!

Yeah, I actually traded in my Forester XT for m ly wife’s X1. The X1 has a twin scroll turbo so it still feels quicker, and it sits lower with a stiffer suspension. Both cars are quick for CUVs, but neither of them had anything resembling a gocart feel. My Abarth had a gocart feel.

Nice and congrats! Some specs?

Also I wanted to ask you if you have driven a Hybrid 3 series. It seems to be a cool model as it combines the biggest engine with a little more shove from electricity. Somehow they also depreciate like CRAZY where I live, so a lot of used models at great prices.

It’s an X-Line with the B48 and 8-Speed Aid in trans. Every package except for Drivers Assist Plus and M-Sport. It’s Mineral Gray with the Mocha Brown interior.

And I have not driven an ActiveHybrid 3, but I’ve seen one come through. The senior guys tell me they pack a helluva punch. But they’re not quite as smooth as the newer hybrid systems.
